About Us

Welcome to the International Buckskin Horse Association, the world's largest registry of Buckskin, Dun, Red Dun, and Grulla Horses. The original concept of the International registry was formed as the International Buckskin Horse Registry in California and subsequently moved to Indiana in 1970 for incorporation in the state of Indiana.

IBHA was incorporated in 1971 to register, preserve the pedigree and promote the activity of Buckskin, Dun , Red Dun, and Grulla Horses. IBHA has proven to be the largest and most progressive registry in the world for these horses. By creating interests and demands through national, state, family and individual activities, the marketability of  IBHA registered horses has constantly increased. Activities are promoted through state chartered associations and national advertising. IBHA maintains permanent horse show records and pedigrees.

Each year IBHA holds a National Convention to address the business of the Association. Committees made up of members and Executives review and vote on new rule proposals. We hold many educational seminars & meetings, most of which are open to IBHA members. In conjunction with the convention meetings is a yearly banquet to award the Honor Rolls, Reserve Honor Rolls, any Supreme and Superior Awards earned since the World Show. A scholarship auction is held and scholarship recipients are announced at this banquet. The Hall of Fame ceremony takes place at the convention.

IBHA offers it's members the following services:

  • Annual & Lifetime Award Program in Miniature, Youth, Amateur, Amateur Select, Adult Walk Trot, Ranch Horse, Buckskin Bred & Open Divisions

  • Approved Shows Across the Nation

  • Annual World Championship Show: 7 days with five sets of points

  • Youth Scholarship Program

  • National Queen Contest

  • New in 2023 - Youth Judging Contest

IBHA is a family friendly association that takes pride in the high quality of horses and competition yet still maintaining that down-home atmosphere.

Thank you for your interest in IBHA!  Please feel free to contact the office with any questions, concerns or comments.
