YOUR 2010 “MISS BUCKSKIN WORLD” CONTESTANTS…….
Taylor Boardman
Hello
everyone!! My name is Taylor Boardman and I am honored to
represent the Upper Midwest Buckskin Horse Association in the 2010
show year! I am 17 years old and a senior at Desoto High School.
Other activities I also enjoy are: being Captain of the Varsity
football cheerleading squad, Forensics, Track and field, the
National Honor Society, and 4-H. I live with my family, which
includes: my mom, Kelly, my dad, Danny, and my brother, Mitch. I
also have two dogs, seven cats, one rabbit, and three horses. My
future plans are to attend University of Wisconsin Lacrosse and
major in Biology. Then continue my education at Marquette
University and achieve my life goal of being a successful Dentist
by taking over the family business. Along with that I plan to
continue showing with and supporting my local charter while
promoting the beautiful Buckskin horse. I have been involved with
U.M.B.H.A. for the past four years with my best friend, Sir Quincy
Zip, or as I like to call him “Q”. We compete in all the Western
and English events and from time to time we will spin a barrel!
I began
my show career in 4-H. My first show was when I was six years old
with a horse named, Brandy. We got a fifth place out of eight
horses and I WAS HOOKED! We attended many 4-H and open shows,
eventually meeting up with my best friend “Q”. At our county fair,
a fellow 4-H’er and her dad asked if we were familiar with IBHA.
Becoming a member of IBHA has inspired me to always strive to be
the best that I can be and to smile and hold my head up high with
whatever the outcome of the judges decision is. I have grown with
the club, and developed to be a strong competitor because of this.
I welcome the opportunity to represent UMBHA as there queen. Good
luck to all the contestants!

Kelly Krull
My name is Kelly Krull and I am honored to be the 2010 queen of
the Ohio State Buckskin Association. I live in Hilliard Ohio with
my parents Mike and Flo. I have two older brothers Todd and Scott,
who both serve in the United States Army and I have an adopted
younger brother, Matt. We have three horses, two dogs, and several
barn cats. I am currently attending Hilliard Darby High School as
a senior and will be attending the Ohio State University to work
towards my PhD in psychology.
I have
been showing with O.S.B.A for two years with my dun mare Whodunit
in the Sky (Nevaeh.) Nevaeh and I have been a team since she was
born, when I assisted in her birth. I started training her myself,
and then sent her to be professionally trained by Terry Myers. I
pay for all of her training myself and work two jobs as well as go
to school full time.
We enjoy
competing in halter and western pleasure. Even though Neveah is
young, we have had great success in the showpen, by being named
the 2009 OSBA Champion 2 year old Halter mare, 2009 OSBA Reserve
Champion 2 year old Western Pleasure Futurity horse, as well as
the 2009 OSBA Reserve Champion Youth High Point Award. I am
extremely proud of our accomplishments and can only see bigger and
better things for us in the future. In the future I hope to add
Showmanship, Trail, Horsemanship, and Hunter Under Saddle to the
list of events we compete in.
This
will be my first year showing at worlds and I look forward to
seeing everyone in Memphis!

Garrick Olson
Hi! I am
Garrick Olson, and I represent the Show-Me Buckskin Association. I
am eighteen and a senior in high school, and will be starting at
the University of Missouri in the fall, majoring in Engineering.
Born and raised in Columbia, Missouri, I swam for a competitive
swim team for several years but quit last March so I could ride
more. Although I have always loved horses, I did not start taking
riding lessons until I was twelve. However, I was hooked as soon
as I walked in the barn! I started showing when I was sixteen with
my horse Starry Tradition (Ropey) at an IBHA show! We also started
showing with the American Ranch Horse Association and during our
second show season won a World Champion Youth title. Also, in the
2009 show season, Ropey and I won High Point Youth for SMBHA. I
love Ropey very much, and hope to continue with this sport for as
long as possible.

Taryn PetersMy
name is Taryn Peters and I have the honor of representing the
Illinois State Buckskin Association in the 2010 show year. I am
the 19 year old daughter of Don Peters and Trudy Kloster of
Pecatonica, IL. Currently a Senior at Pecatonica High School. I am
active in FFA and 4-H. I’ve been riding/showing horses since I was
6 months old. For the last four years I have enjoyed the
opportunity to show swine at local and county fairs in my area.
After high school I plan on attending Blackhawk College in
Kewanee, then transferring to ISU to study and become an Equine
Specialist. I have shown at IBHA charter shows in the states of
Wisconsin, Illinois, and had the privelge of attending my first
BHA Congress in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 2009. I was also fortunate
enough to be able to travel to Tennessee to participate in my
first IBHA World Show on my mare Pennys Destiny receiveing a world
title in Youth Barrels and third Place in Youth Poles.
I have
been involved in IBHA as a youth member for the past two years and
now want to be able to take on a greater role representing IBHA.
This year I will be competing in Youth Barrels and poles with my
buckskin gelding "Double Jac". DJ and I are a newly formed team
and hope to do well in the 2010 show season.
I am running for "Miss Buckskin World" for two reasons. Over the
past few years I have met many wonderful people who are involved
in IBHA and would enjoy the honor of representing them as "Miss
Buckskin World" It is astounding to see how caring and dedicated
the people involved in IBHA are. The other reason is more of a
personal goal. Being able to represent ISBA is a great honor for
me because even being apart of ISBA and IBHA for two year I have
met so many great people and have made alot of new friends.
I am
looking forward to another rewarding and fun fulfilled year with
my new partner Double Jac. I am looking forward to seeing you all
in Memphis. I wish everybody the best of luck and safe travels.

Kelsey Reynolds
My name is Kelsey Reynolds and I am the daughter of Angel and the
late Clint Reynolds. I am a senior at Whiteland Community High
School. I have one brother, Jake, who is fifteen and a freshman
this year. I am proud to say that I am very involved at my school
and enjoy participating in various clubs and organizations in my
community. I have played four years of varsity volleyball and
three years of varsity basketball. I am the President of National
Honor Society, Chairman of Student Council Booster Club, member of
National Art Honor Society, a freshmen mentor, the former
President of Johnson County 4-H Horse&Pony, and an MABA member for
the past four years.
Next
year I plan to attend Franklin College to major in Athletic
Training and play on the volleyball team. After earning my
undergraduate degree I plan to attend the University of
Indianapolis to obtain my doctorate in Physical Therapy. I am
looking forward to representing Indiana at the World Show this
year. This will be my first time traveling to Memphis and I plan
to make the best of this opportunity. I hope to become Miss
Buckskin World because I have been saving up for the past few
years to be able to compete at this level. Being crowned Miss
Buckskin World would just make the experience that much better.
The prestige of receiving such an award would be something that I
could carry through my future showing career. My father passed
away two years ago and it would mean so much to him to know that
his daughter followed through with her dreams. He supported me in
whatever I did, especially through horses. I want to prove to
myself and my family and friends that I haven’t stopped living
just because he did. My horse, Patch, was born in our barn and my
dad was certain that Patch and I would go all the way. I’ve done
everything in my power to make that come true. This would be the
high point, so far, in my showing career. I know that an
opportunity such as this doesn’t come around very often so I plan
on making the most out of it.

Megan Wolfinger
My
name is Megan Wolfinger and I am honored to represent the
Wisconsin Buckskin Horse Association as their 2010 queen. I am 21
years old and am from Greenville, WI. My parents are Jim and
Cindy Wolfinger, and I have a fifteen year old sister, Nikki, who
helps me considerably at the shows. I am a junior this year at
the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and I am a biology major with
a chemistry minor. I work hard to maintain my spot on the Dean’s
list, and I plan on applying to veterinary school this summer.
In
addition to showing horses, I enjoy hunting with my father,
fishing, boating, and spending time at our cabin in Crandon, WI.
I am president of the pre-vet club at UW-Oshkosh, and belong to
Pre-Health Professionals of Oshkosh, and the National Society of
Leadership and Success.
This is
my fourth year showing my red dun gelding, Hesa Lopin Sonny, and
this year I plan on competing in Amateur All-Around for the first
time at the world show. It has been quite the adventure. When I
bought Gunner, he had never been ridden, and I had never showed.
We both had a lot of learning to do! I had a blast at the 2008
IBHA World Show, and it was there that I decided that I wanted to
run for Miss Buckskin World. After meeting the queens and other
riders that year, I have truly made some lifelong friends. IBHA
has always felt like one big family to me, and I would be honored
to represent this club as Miss Buckskin World. Good luck to
everyone this year, be safe, and I look forward to seeing you all
in Memphis!
