by Patty Copple.  The World Show in Memphis was fun and exciting for all.  The Youth had a great time with several activities during the show. The stall decorations for “Dun in the Sun“ were outstanding.  The judges had a hard time deciding the winners.  After much thought, Florida was awarded the stall decorations award.  Their team members are Amber Leigh Bentley, Nathan Houghton, Madison Hurm, Merry Johnson, Dylan Krummenacker, Gabrielle MeGee, and Allison Sautter..  Well done Florida!  The Ohio team came with the reserve award.  The team members from Ohio are Marley Grime, Michelle Hendricks, Carly Kidner and Dustin Mallory.

Back in the show pen, the teams were competing for the Team Tournament prizes.  By the end of the week, Iowa came out on top with Emma Schaeffer, Kim Maxwell, Maria Costa, Deanna Zimmerman and Nate Erickson helping compile points.  Wisconsin came in reserve with Corynn Spurlock, Paige Schwabe, and Laramie Weiss.  Congratulations to all teams who competed!

For fun, the Youth had a picnic dinner Thursday after the show. The picnic was well attended with everyone enjoying their tube steak dinner.  After dinner, each charter had a team entered in the clover leaf wheel barrel race.  The Calcutta style race had fierce competition.  Times for the race were neck and neck, but the Florida team of Chip Williams and Nathan Houghton edged out the other teams.  Liza Houghton picked the winning team.  Thank you everyone who participated!

The Steve Flick work saddle which was raffled off went to Billie Jo Chapan of Ohio.  Thank you to all who bought tickets and to everyone who donated towards the purchase of the saddle.  A thank you also to Kay Gray who donated the awards for the reserve stall decorations.  The support of our sponsors is invaluable to keeping the Youth Fund afloat.

The theme for the 2010 World show is “Bring your own Buckskin”.   Time to start planning!
